Are Danes ready for artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence is making its way into businesses, educational institutions, and the public sector faster than the political debate can keep up. The question is no longer whether AI should be part of society, but how, and who should decide on the matter.

In this report, INVI examines how Danes view these developments and what they expect from the political system. The results show that the public is skeptical about the pace of change: 67 percent believe that AI is changing society too quickly, and 56 percent believe that AI is generally making society worse.

At the same time, Danes are calling for political action. In a future where AI takes over many of the tasks that humans perform today, 60 percent support lower taxes on earned income to make it more attractive to hire people rather than AI. The strongest overall support is for government investments such as continuing education and retraining.

The report also examines Danes’ trust in the government’s use of AI. Only 26.5 percent believe that government agencies will be transparent in the future about when and how they use the technology, and Danes do not want to leave government decisions solely up to AI.

The survey was conducted by Norstat among 1,003 representatively selected Danes over the age of 18 between August 17 and 21, 2026.
