Solution lab from idea to action
Co-create - Deploy - Scale
Do you work with wicked problems where standard solutions no longer suffice? In INVI's Solution Lab, you will learn how to design and lead modular co-creation so that solutions both work locally and can be scaled across projects and organizations. The masterclass is based on the Green Triangle as a case study and links experiences from the green transition to concrete methods you can use in your own practice.
You will be taught by, among others, Jeppe Bruus, Minister for the Green Tripartite and former Minister of Taxation, together with some of the country's leading researchers and practitioners in co-creation.
Yields
A clear understanding of when modular co-creation makes sense - and when it doesn't.
Knowledge about the phases of a co-creation process, typical pitfalls and levers to create momentum.
Competencies to design and lead co-creation processes that are both effective and democratically legitimate.
Tools to deal with the "shadow sides" of co-creation, such as burned-out partners or unclear roles.
Training to deal with dilemmas from your own reality together with participants from other sectors.
A network of practitioners working with wicked problems and modular co-creation.
Target group
Solution Lab is for those who already know about co-creation but want to go deeper. You may be a project manager, development consultant or program manager in a state, municipality, region, NGO, foundation or private company. The course is ideal if you work with green triangles or need to develop and scale complex social or green initiatives.
Most importantly, you want to develop a strategic and practical ability to orchestrate and lead co-creation processes - and be open to sharing learning, frustrations and successes with others on the team.
Educators
Jacob Torfing and Eva Sørensen are professors at Roskilde University and have been researching co-creation "for a lifetime".
They are the course coordinators and you can meet them right here:
Eva Sørensen (course responsible)
Professor of Public Administration and Democracy at Roskilde University. Eva is one of the country's most cited researchers in the field of co-creation and network governance and has for more than three decades worked on how public governance can be made more democratic and innovative. She has led major national and international research projects and has written a number of key works on collaborative innovation and political leadership.
Kristine Fisker
Design Advisor at INVI with a background as a design and innovation engineer from DTU. Kristine has worked with systemic innovation in both green transition and medical technology and has facilitated complex, cross-organizational development processes. She teaches how to design and lead co-creation processes that are practical, inclusive and effective.
Jacob Torfing (course responsible)
Professor of Policy and Institutions at Roskilde University and an internationally recognized researcher in co-creation, innovation and public governance. Jacob leads large research consortia such as GOGREEN and the EU Horizon project ROBUST and has published over 30 books on how public organizations can develop solutions together with citizens, businesses and civil society.
Sigge Winther Nielsen
Director and founder of the think tank INVI. He has previously been director of DJØF, political analyst at Politiken, host of Deadline and civil servant in the Ministry of Finance. Sigge holds a PhD in political science and is the author of The Entrepreneurial State and wicked Problems. He teaches how to move from analysis to action and how organizations can develop solutions that actually work in practice.
Program
The course combines lectures on the latest research in the field with group discussions, exercises, guest presentations and group-based reflection.

wicked problems cannot be solved with standard solutions or by single actors alone. Problems like climate change and loneliness require a new approach where solutions are developed in collaboration across actors. They also require flexibility. Therefore, solutions must be built from flexible modules that can be adapted to local conditions. This is the epitome of modular co-creation.In the first module, you get a thorough introduction to the concept and its application in practice, This module gives you concrete insights into how to design co-creation processes that produce modular solutions that can be reused and adapted across contexts:
How do you identify wicked problems that require modular co-creation?
How do you put together the right stakeholders across sectors to co-create solution modules?
How do you design and implement a modular co-creation process?

Solutions to wicked problems require local actors to develop and adapt solutions to local conditions and the complexity of the problem. At the same time, we don't have the resources to reinvent the wheel every time. Therefore, we explore how modular co-creation can be used strategically to create solutions that are both practical and democratic and can be scaled effectively.
We put the tools into practice with 'The CO GOV GAME ' - a game developed by the trainers where you navigate through difficult choices and dilemmas together. This module gives you concrete insights into how to secure the many benefits of co-creating modules:
How do you use modular co-creation processes to foster democratic renewal and interactive political leadership?
How do you ensure both local democratic support and cross-scaling of solutions?
How do you navigate the resource and political dilemmas of co-creating modules?

Tuesday, March 2nd. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Some processes sit at the backbone of your organization. Other processes are complex and require massive efforts to create value for your workplace. How do you create an infrastructure that makes it easy to develop and deploy solution modules that actually work in practice?
In this final module, you will get concrete tools to successfully anchor modular co-creation. You will hear experiences across a multitude of projects within the green transition and experiences from the Green Tripartite. You will learn how to navigate the dilemmas and challenges that arise when solution modules need to work in different local contexts:
How do you create a modular co-creation infrastructure to make it easy to develop and deploy solution modules?
How do you create the best conditions for success?
How do you handle the dilemmas that arise in co-creating solution modules?
